A simple and tasty fasting dish from Țara Lăpușului (Lăpuș Land): boiled potatoes, mashed and mixed with fried onions, served with a sauerkraut juice sauce. A recipe that never disappoints.

- sauerkraut juice
👩🍳 How to prepare
Boil the potatoes and mash them. Fry an onion in oil and, once fried, add it over the potatoes and mix. In a saucepan, fry a little flour in oil, then add the sauerkraut juice. Serve the potatoes with the sauerkraut juice sauce.
📖 The story of the recipe
Recipe from Dunca Ileana, 93 years old, from Șieu, Cupșeni commune, in the heart of Țara Lăpușului. “Moare“ is the local word for the juice of pickled cabbage, kept in barrels so that nothing from the rich autumn was wasted.
