Fried sauerkraut with dried mushrooms is a traditional Maramureș fasting recipe, full of flavor. The dried mushrooms are soaked and boiled, then mixed with fried sauerkraut, onion, pepper and carrots. Served with polenta on potatoes.

👩🍳 Preparation
Put the mushrooms to soak, then boil them. After they have boiled, cut them into small pieces. Fry the onion and pepper, then add the sauerkraut and sliced carrot. When the cabbage is fried, add the mushrooms and dill and leave on the stove for about 5 minutes. Serve with polenta on potatoes.

Recipe from Ileana Bilici, 46 years old, from Ruscova, Maramureș. Fried sauerkraut with dried mushrooms was a common dish in Maramureș households, especially during fasting periods, when mushrooms picked from the Maramureș forests were the main ingredient.
