Grupul Agricover controlled by entrepreneur Jabar Kanani announced a new agri-fintech platform Agricover Pay developed together with Visa and Libra Bank. The mission is to connect 20,000 Romanian farmers in one integrated system of payments farm input purchases and harvest monetization all within a single digital interface. Farmers will be able to sell produce without intermediaries and get easier access to credit and microfinancing. The platform leverages Romania’s growing trend of rural digitalisation. For Maramures a county with significant though underutilised agricultural potential this offers a real commercial opportunity. Local farmers often lack access to modern financial instruments. Agricover Pay could fill this gap enabling better planning and higher incomes. The project is seen as part of a wider push to modernise Romanian agriculture and make it more competitive with Western European peers. The launch is planned for early 2027.
Agricover Pay is a new agri-fintech platform from Grupul Agricover worked out with Visa and Libra Bank. The project connects 20,000 Romanian farmers into a complete system for payments input purchases and harvest sales. Farmers can sell without intermediaries and access microfinancing easily. Digitalisation of Romanian farming is a growing trend. For Maramures with good but underused agricultural potential this platform could be a real opportunity enabling better planning and income. Small farmers often lack modern financial tools and Agricover Pay bridges this gap. The platform could be integrated with government subsidy management simplifying access to EU farm payments. Romanian agriculture could become more competitive. The launch is planned for early 2027 with a pilot phase in several counties including potentially Maramures. The development team at Agricover is already in contact with local agricultural cooperatives and extension services to explore partnerships. Training sessions for farmers on using the digital platform are being designed. If the pilot proves successful the platform could expand to cover more farmers in the region.
Agricover Pay promises to transform Romanian agriculture by providing digital payment and financing solutions tailored to farmers needs. For Maramures especially the small and medium sized farms that currently operate on cash basis this service could unlock growth opportunities. Local chambers are exploring how to enroll county farmers in the pilot scheme scheduled for early 2027. The platform has the potential to significantly improve financial inclusion in rural Maramures.
