Kribenihaluschken, potato dumplings with fried onions, sour cream and cheese, is a traditional recipe from Vișeu de Sus, kept by the German community of the town.
🥣 Ingredients
- 1 kg grated potatoes
- 150 g white flour
- 2 eggs
- salt
- pepper
- 2 onions
- 4-5 tablespoons sour cream
- 100 g kneaded cheese or unsalted telemea
- oil (for frying the onions)
👩🍳 How to prepare
Grate the potatoes and mix them with flour, eggs and salt. Boil dumplings from the resulting dough in salted water for about 20 minutes. Strain the dumplings and let them drain a little.
Fry the two onions in oil and pour them over the boiled dumplings, then add the sour cream and the cheese. They can be served as a side dish for meat or as a very good fasting food — the dumplings can also be made without eggs, mixed only with onion, without cheese.
