Aranygaluska, the dessert with leavened dough balls, ground walnuts and jam, is a traditional recipe from Sighetu Marmației, passed down from generation to generation by the Hungarian community of the town.
🥣 Ingredients
- ½ kg flour
- 30 g yeast
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 vanilla
- jam
- ground walnuts
- powdered sugar
👩🍳 How to prepare
Mix the flour with yeast, eggs, oil, sugar, salt and vanilla, and leave the dough to rise until it doubles in volume. Roll it out on the work surface to about 0.5 cm and cut it into 3-4 cm pieces.
Place jam on each piece, fold the dough into a rectangle and roll it through oil and through ground walnuts mixed with powdered sugar. Place the pieces in a tray, in two rows, one over the other, staggered, and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 40-50 minutes.
