A Romanian Air Force F-16 fighter destroyed a naval drone loaded with explosives near the Neptun Deep platform in the Black Sea, the Ministry of National Defense announced. The drone was neutralized completely by the EOD team of the Naval Forces after the F-16’s engagement.
🛡️ First aerial intercept of its kind for Romania
According to the Ministry of National Defense, data downloaded from the tracking systems of the F-16 aircraft confirmed the drone was carrying explosives. This was a premiere in Romanian airspace, with the pilot successfully intercepting the target in the vicinity of the strategic offshore platform.
The Neptun Deep perimeter is one of Romania’s most important energy projects in the Black Sea, making the area a priority for national security monitoring.
